Your skin routine handbook for that radiant glow

routine

There’s no need to purchase the most indulgent skincare products to improve the appearance of your skin — a healthy lifestyle and a good skincare regime with products from your local pharmacy keep your skin supple and fabulous over a long period.

With the right skincare products for your skin type, you can create a routine that helps yield the benefits of each product. An extra step is to add a facial once a week to relax and open your pores so they can absorb the nourishment from the ingredients. Urban Company has signature face masks to help keep the skin young such as the Nature’s Essence organic cleansing facial, the Dr Renaud hydrating facial and the Bright & Glow facial.

You also need to keep in mind the correct order of layering your skincare products for both your morning and night routines. Take a look at these steps to give you that coveted radiance:

For Day:

Step 1: Cleanser

It’s essential to cleanse the skin first thing in the morning. A gentle cleanser for your skin type should do the trick.

Step 2: Toner

Restore the skin’s pH balance with a toner that also helps remove any residue left behind after cleansing and tighten the pores of the skin. Use a cotton pad to apply the toner starting with the oily parts of the face.

Step 3: Serum

Most serums contain potent ingredients that can help improve the skin’s texture by penetrating the deeper layers of your skin to deliver desired results. Apply your serum and then wait for at least 5 minutes to let it sink into the skin.

Step 4: Moisturizer

It’s time to give your skin its much-needed hydration by using a dedicated face moisturizing lotion. These also create a protective barrier against pollution and free radical damage. If you can only invest in one skincare product, a great moisturizer makes all the difference in the world.

Step 5: Sun Protection

None of your skin products can help you if you do not protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UVA and UVB rays. Apply 30 SPF or above broad-spectrum sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you step out of the house. Don’t skip this step even if it is cloudy since these rays can penetrate the clouds and damage your skin. Don’t forget to apply it to your neck too!

For Night:

Step 1: Cleanser

Remove any dirt, oil and makeup residue from your skin that has accumulated during the day.

Step 2: Toner

Step 3: Spot Treatment

The skin is more relaxed while sleeping hence any treatment works better at this time. If you have skin issues such as rosacea, hyperpigmentation, acne spots, fine lines, etc., apply spot treatments to the affected areas. These treatments are usually of a thin consistency and can be readily absorbed by the skin. Wait for a few minutes after you apply a spot treatment so the product has absorbed into the skin before progressing.

Step 4: Eye Cream

The skin under the eyes is quite thin and prone to dryness and develops fine lines before the rest of the face. Eye masks & creams are great for reducing puffiness. Give yourself a light massage around the eye area with a nourishing eye cream at least once a day.

Step 5: Moisturizer

Hydration at the end of the day helps your skin rejuvenate overnight as you rest.
