AZIMUTH celebrates Saudi National Day in AlUla with music from East and West

AZIMUTH, one of the first music festivals in the Kingdom will return to AlUla from 22nd to 24th of September 2022 celebrating the union of eastern and western minds through music and art.

The event will take place in the same stunning desert canyon which recently hosted “Sarab”, the site responsive art exhibition of Desert X AlUla 2022. Some of the artworks remain in the location offering an opportunity for AZIMUTH guests to experience the art in the landscape first-hand.

The first edition of AZIMUTH took place in AlUla in March 2020 and marked the end of the second successful season of Winter at Tantora. International acts included headliner, French composer and pioneer in the electronic / ambient music genre, Jean-Michel Jarre, he was supported by The Chainsmokers and Tinie Tempah among others. Regional crowd-pullers featured Hollaphonic, DJ Molekaah & Sara G, Omar Basaad and Hamza Hawsawi. World class food was also on offer from Brazilian super-chef Alex Atala as well as the two New York rising stars Chef Jeremiah Stone and Chef Fabian von Hauske Valtierra.

The 2022 edition of AZIMUTH returns with a fresh approach, bringing the best of the nation’s popular DJs together with international acts to celebrate the blend of cultures and promote continued dialogue between east and west. The event will start in the evening of Thursday 22nd September and finish with the sunset session on Saturday 24th September / early hours of Sunday 25th September.

Taking place over the Saudi National Day holiday, KSA residents can make the most of the long weekend and take advantage of the cooler temperatures and stunning AlUla landscapes, spending time with friends and family at this intimate event with only 1000 tickets per day available.

Between the sunrise and sunset events, AZIMUTH attendees can opt to chill out at the various zones within the event site where there will be a range of tasty, food and drinks, retail, beauty, wellness, music and art to entertain.

Alternatively, guests can head out and explore all that AlUla has to offer by visiting the heritage sites, including the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hegra or trying some outdoor adventures at the AlUla Adventure Hub. Be it Zipline, Abseiling, Rock Climbing, Via Ferrata and Canyon Hammock – AlUla’s adventure activities are perfect for beginners and a unique way to appreciate AlUla’s extraordinary landscapes. There is also bike rental at AlUla Bike Hub, or hiking trails across the magnificent landscapes and in the surroundings of AlUla’s nature reserves. For less strenuous activities Habitas AlUla offers the Thuraya Wellness Centre, or the opportunity to relax by the infinity pool. Shaden too offers a stunning poolside experience among the canyons. Great dining is also available outside the event site with culinary experiences at many of AlUla Old Town and AlJadidah restaurants, or at AlUla’s resorts.

AZIMUTH is the first marquee event of AlUla Moments’ calendar of events and festivals this year. The event marks the launch of the AlUla Moments calendar which includes flagship festivals and marquee events.

Artists for AZIMUTH will be announced on Thursday 1st of September on the large screens at the Riyadh Boulevard, with a surprise awaiting visitors to the popular precinct. Announcements on AlUla Moments channels and experiencealula.com will follow.

With only a limited number of 1000 tickets on offer, music fans are advised to get in quick. Tickets, travel packages and information about flights and accommodation will be available on experiencealula.com from 1st of September.
